Irazu Volcano

Located about 2 hours away, you will cross San Jose downtown. Enjoy the views as the road winds through fertile cropland to visit the tallest volcano in Costa Rica standing at 11,260 feet (3,432 meters), to see the main craters and the beautiful Caribbean and Pacific coasts in the distance. Subsequently, we will descend to the historical city of Cartago (the old capital). Here we will explore the mysterious ruins of the old Parish, and also the beautiful Virgin of the Angels Basilica that has large vaulted ceilings and exquisite examples of stained glass windows, a rich display of carvings, statues and other pieces of art.
