We booked several nights at the Buena Vista Hotel in Alajuela. It was everything the article said (Union Tribune, San Diego) - beautiful view, great rooms , great service and accommodating transportation to and from the airport, even at late arrival hours. 2nd recommendation appearing in Union Tribune.
