My family of 3 (or more depending on who is travelling with us) always stays at Buena Vista when we visit Costa Rica, which we do on a yearly basis. The staff and owners are helpful, courteous, friendly, and always available. The owners are on site as well which is a big plus. These folks remember us each time we book and have brought “Southern Hospitality” to one of the most beautiful settings I’ve ever seen. The food is wonderful. There is nothing better than sitting down to a plate of Arroz con Pollo at Buena Vista after a long day of travelling. And the breakfast is unbelievable. I can smell the coffee now. The entire staff are some of the best people I know, and they treat us like family. The rooms and the facilities are impeccably clean, and their renovations are going to be the icing on the cake! The housekeeping staff are wonderful and have been so helpful on every visit – they not only provide a perfectly cleaned room, but they do it with a smile and a genuine concern for their guest. I love Hotel Buena Vista. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

We stayed here 2 nights at the last leg of our trip. Hotel situated in a very nice location ( up in the mountain) therefore the climate is always cool. Room was nice & clean (no AC , but as I’ve mentioned, you don’t need an AC here). They have a coffee trail on the premise if you want to take a walk. Great view over looking Sanjose. Very nice property. About 15minutes to/from the airport, 30-40minutes to Poas volcan , 45 minutes to La Paz waterfall garden. Very relaxing stay, I would stay here again!

This is an up scale hotel and the accommodations reflect this fact. The view is great overlooking the city of Alajuela as well as views of San Jose from the lawn or from some of the bungalow quarters set into the hillside. Not to imply that these quarters are simple, they are elegant and very nicely decorated. While I only stayed in a basic room with a balcony overlooking the pool, the owner Lee Pratt was kind enough to show me these individual quarters set in the hillside while we discussed building in Costa Rica. There is a nice gift shop at the hotel with some very nice gifts. The hotel runs some tours at reasonable prices compared to other places that arrange tours. You can ride the bus from the hotel to down town Alajuela if you don’t have a car rented or get the hotel to drive you down. The food was excellent and the staff all speak English if your Spanish is not up to par. For me staying here was a treat as I typically stay at more “local” places but on a special occasion would return without a doubt

“After three weeks of travelling throughout Costa Rica my wife and I spent a week at the Buena Vista. We were welcomed like family and staff ( Coco – Harlem- Olger –Chris – Darwin ) were extremely helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed all the sights and communities – farm markets, volcanoes, farms, gardens and zoos as well as just exploring the countryside in the Central Valley. The view from the hotel was spectacular. Great Tropical breakfast .There are not many road signs in Costa Rica but it was easy to find the Hotel Buena Vista with numeous signs around town and on local roads. We hated to leave. – Steve & Marilyn ”

“We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Hotel Buena Vista. The staff was very friendly and helpful with setting up tours of the area. The rooms were very clean, and all meals were wonderful. We especially enjoyed staying in the new luxury Villa. The surrounding grounds, coffee trail and scenery are so beautiful. It was a very relaxing place to stay. We hope to be back to Buena Vista. – Eric & Donna”

“My husband and children have just returned from a week-long vacation in Costa Rica. We cannot say enough about the level of hospitality and the standards as a whole during our stay at Hotel Buena Vista in Alajuela. Max, Jose, Christian and the rest of the friendly staff made every effort to make our stay more than we could have hoped for. We were thoroughly impressed with every aspect of our holiday; the rooms were exceptionally comfortable and clean, the pool was quiet and well -maintained, the site as a whole was very clean and the staff were excellent – friendly, welcoming and attentive. We have been recommending Buena Vista to all our family and friends and we hope to return soon. Many thanks”
